About Danikk Labradors
Danikk Labradors was established in 1971 with the original spelling being "Danick". In 1988, Danikk became an AKC-registered kennel name. This limits the "Danikk" name usage to those dogs bred by Danikk Kennels, and written permission must be given for use of the name. Danikk is run and managed by Dr. Fran Smith and Dr. John Lawrence, who are both practicing veterinarians.
Danikk is well-known nationwide for its quality labrador retrievers. Labrador puppies from Danikk have excelled as show and obedience dogs, and are excellent hunters as well. And of course, with their wonderful temperament, our lab puppies make excellent household and family pets as well.
Frances 0. Smith, DVM, the founder of Danikk Labradors, has been involved in the sport of purebred dogs since 1956. She grew up with German Shepherd dogs and Pomeranians and was involved in Junior Handling in the Midwest in the late 1950's and 1960's. Her first Labrador Retriever arrived on the scene in 1971, a black bitch of field trial breeding, and she discovered a new world.
More information about Dr. Fran Smith and her background can be found here.
The original Danikk black bitch was bred to a conformation show champion and produced another conformation champion in her first litter. This bitch, CH Danick's Bonnie Babe, was bred to the famous CH Shamrock Acres Light Brigade late in his life and produced a litter of 14 puppies, beginning the Danikk legacy.
Puppies are placed in order of deposit and are matched by home and pedigree to the appropriate family.
