About Danikk Labradors

From the beginnings of Danikk's breeding program, it has been the goal to produce physically and mentally sound Labradors with beautiful breed type (conformation) without sacrificing the important working ability that makes a Labrador what a Labrador needs to be - a working retriever.

Danikk Labradors

Danikk is the home of Ch. Danikk Leap of Faith M.H., the 31st champion master hunter in Labrador breed history.

There have been more than twenty Danikk Conformation Champions (CH), three Danikk Obedience Trial Champions (O.T.CH.), a Champion and Utility titled Danikk dog, multiple Utility titled (U.D.), multiple Companion Dog Excellents (C.D.X.), many Companion Dog titles (C.D.), a Master Hunter (M.H.), multiple Senior Hunter (S.H.) and many Junior (J.H.) titles.

Danikk dogs have also been:

Danikk Dogs Temperament

Even though these dogs are bred to do it all, the majority of Danikk Labradors end up as devoted family companions and family gun dogs. This is because temperament is of paramount importance, as Labrador is synonymous with good-natured.

All Danikk puppies are home raised and socialized with other dogs, cats, kids, noise, music and car rides. Puppies have their dew claws removed, are wormed, have physical examinations by a veterinarian (Dr. Smith), as well as an eye examination by a veterinary ophthalmologist prior to being placed in their new homes.

Danikk Dogs Physical Health

Danikk breeding animals are certified free of heritable orthopedic disease by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) and have their eyes checked free of hereditary eye disease on an annual basis so they can be certified by the Canine Eye Registry Foundation (CERF) now known as the Companion Animal Eye Registry (CAER). Breeding dogs work, of course, as personal gun dogs and field competitors. Each breeding is planned to maximize all the genetic advantage each parent has to offer. Additionally, our breeding dogs are tested for diseases that are identified through DNA testing. These diseases include prcd (PRA), exercise induced collapse (EIC) and centronuclear myopathy (CNM). Our dogs have all been tested free of the dilute gene (dd) so do not produce silver.
